INDMO, I.P and SEFOPE align its workforce development strategies with regional initiatives.
Dili, 29 August 2023 – Ms. Isabel Fernandes de Lima, the Director of INDMO, I. P., recently briefed His Excellency Mr Rogério de Araújo Mendonça, the Secretary of State for Vocational Training and Employment on the upcoming 1st Timor-Leste International Skills Week, scheduled to take place from October 23 to 27, 2023. During the briefing, the director also shared the next five-year priorities of INDMO, I.P., and provided recommendations to preserve a quality, inclusive, and resilient workforce in Timor-Leste. These efforts aim to address the issues of unemployment and skills shortages not only within the country but also in the region. One of the key topics discussed during the briefing was the implementation of a roadmap for ASEAN integration, particularly focusing on technical and vocational education and training (TVET), the movement of natural persons, and mutual recognition of skills. This highlights Timor-Leste’s commitment to aligning its workforce development strategies with regional initiatives. To tackle unemployment and skill shortages effectively, it is crucial to prioritize certain areas. Investing in education and training is paramount to equipping individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge required by employers. By enhancing access to quality education and vocational training programs, Timor-Leste can empower its workforce to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving job market.
