Timor-Lesteβs National Institute for Workforce Development (INDMO, I.P.), represented by its Director and SEAMEO VOCTECH Governing Board Member, Ms. Isabel Fernandes de Lima, took part in the 35th SEAMEO VOCTECH Governing Board Meeting held in Brunei Darussalam from October 22 to 24, 2024.
On the first day of this annual meeting, representatives of SEAMEO member states convened to review and approve reports, budgets, and proposals for the coming year, affirming their shared commitment to advancing Southeast Asiaβs technical and vocational education and training (TVET) agenda.
The second day featured engaging learning sessions hosted by the SEAMEO VOCTECH Secretariat, providing a platform for member nations, partners, and donors to share their perspectives and achievements in integrating green and digital skills into TVET programs. Ms. Isabel Fernandes de Lima represented Timor-Leste, sharing the nationβs accomplishments and insights into promoting green skills and digital literacy. Her address highlighted Timor-Lesteβs legislative frameworks, strategic plans, and national policies, emphasizing the importance of these skills to foster socioeconomic progress at local, regional, and global levels.
On the final day, the Timorese delegation participated in educational and cultural visits, further strengthening the nationβs regional connections and partnerships.
The Timor-Leste delegation comprised INDMO Director Ms. Isabel Fernandes de Lima, National Director of Corporate Services Mr. Henrique Correia dos Santos, and Institutional Reform Advisor Mr. Aquiles Salvador Guterres.
Timor-Leste previously hosted the SEAMEO VOCTECH Governing Board Meeting in 2023, alongside the first-ever Timor-Leste International Skills Week, held from October 23 to 27, marking a significant milestone in the countryβs commitment to TVET advancement in the region.
